View on XDuring the State of the Union address on Thursday, President Biden was pressed by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-GA) to acknowledge the 22-year-old Laken Riley, who was killed last month by Venezuelan illegal immigrant Jose Ibarra.
Green shouted "Say her name!" from the audience.
Biden finally gave in. He grabbed a button from the podium and said, "Lincoln Riley." He added, "Lincoln Riley, an innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal.”
On Friday, Riley's mother spoke out for the first time since her death to criticize the president. "Biden does not even KNOW my child's name - it (sic) pathetic!" wrote Allyson Phillips on Facebook in response to a comment. "If you are going to say her name (even when forced to do so) at least say the right name!"
Several Democrats condemned President Biden's use of the word "illegal" rather than acknowledging the use of the wrong name, or the fact that she was murdered.
