Ford government to implement new lockdown orders in Ontario
Early indications are that small businesses will remain at 25 percent and larger corporations at 50 percent. Indoor dining, hair and nail salons, and barbershops will be forced to shut-down, while schools will allegedly remain open.
The Toronto Sun reported Wednesday that the Ford government plans to instill new lockdown orders for Ontario as the province sees a spike in new coronavirus cases.
According to the Toronto Sun, these lockdown orders can come as early as Saturday.
Although the following has yet to be confirmed, early indications are that small businesses will remain at 25 percent and larger corporations at 50 percent. Indoor dining, hair and nail salons, and barbershops will be forced to shut-down, while schools will allegedly remain open, Toronto Sun reported.
Residents of Ontario have suffered through COVID-19 lockdowns implemented by the Ford government for more than a year.
Despite the continuous spread of coronavirus throughout businesses that the Ford government labeled 'essential,' like food processing facilities, warehouses, and transportation outfits, these businesses continue to be the source of the reported cases.
Essential workers have not yet been offered to receive the COVID-19 vaccine despite being the source of the spread.
On Wednesday, 2,333 new cases were reported. Of those cases, 59 percent were from areas already in the 'grey' zone, the zone just before the government restricts the province to a stay-at-home order, Toronto Sun reported.
The Ford government allowed restaurants to partially open-up 11 days ago, but that is not enough time to indicate whether or not restaurants being open increases the spread of the virus.
According to the Toronto Sun, the Ford government will force all businesses to close in areas that already have stricter restrictions and have seen a spike in new coronavirus cases since November.
