Former Secretary of State and Democrat politician Hillary Clinton has said that despite not wanting to impeach President Donald Trump, she would rather prosecute Trump administration officials like Department of War Secretary Pete Hegseth and others in the Trump camp.
She doesn't want to not impeach Trump, exactly, she just doesn't think that the charges would stick. She made the comments while speaking to left-wing journalist Kara Swisher in a podcast released on Wednesday.
"You know, I am against impeaching Donald Trump because I think it's a sideshow and he can't get convicted. But I am in favor of opening impeachment investigations into some of the elected officials or the appointed officials," she said.
"You know, people like Pete Hegseth—who I think is hollowing out our military, politicizing our military, you know, turning it into a militia for his Christian national ambitions—I think he needs to be held accountable," she added.
Clinton added that there needs to be "smart, disciplined investigations" and that means to look at "where the money is coming from, who is receiving it, and what are they getting in return" and to overall "follow the money" with the administration.
The comments from Clinton are in partial contrast to what she has said before, namely that she wanted Trump impeached for both times the Democrats voted to impeach the president in his first term.

In her op-ed that she wrote at the time, she said, "Removing Trump from office is essential, and I believe he should be impeached."
The articles of impeachment against Trump at the time were passed by Democrats in the House but he was not convicted in in the Senate.
