Hillary Clinton appeared for a closed-door deposition regarding Jeffrey Epstein before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Thursday, at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center, near the Clintons' home in Westchester County, New York. In opening statements she released to social media, Clinton criticized Republicans on the committee for calling on her to testify while not investigating President Donald Trump.
Clinton said she has no information on the criminal activities of Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, and accused Republican lawmakers of covering up Trump’s relationship with Epstein.

"You have compelled me to testify, fully aware that I have no knowledge that would assist your investigation, in order to distract attention from President Trump’s actions and to cover them up despite legitimate calls for answers."
"If this Committee is serious about learning the truth about Epstein’s trafficking crimes, it would not rely on press gaggles to get answers from our current president on his involvement; it would ask him directly under oath about the tens of thousands of times he shows up in the Epstein files."
"If the majority were serious, it would not waste time on fishing expeditions. There is too much that needs to be done. What is being held back? Who is being protected? And why the cover-up?"
In her opening statements, she also provided no defense for her husband, former President Bill Clinton, who is expected to testify before the committee on Friday. He had an extensive relationship with Epstein, and flight logs have shown him traveling on Epstein’s private jet to the Virgin Islands, Portugal, Siberia, Japan, and China. Photos released as part of the Epstein files have shown Bill Clinton numerous times, including him swimming with Maxwell.
