When police responded fifty-four stories down on street level, he was found unconscious and pronounced dead at the scene.
"We are truly heartbroken at the situation that occurred this evening outside our rooftop bar," Hyatt Centric Times Square general manager Tom Blundell said in a statement, "and we are keeping the victim’s family and friends in our thoughts and hearts."
“We are working closely with local authorities," he added. "The safety and well-being of all our colleagues, hotel guests, and Bar 54 guests remains a top priority, and at this time, as a result of this tragic incident, we will keep the door to the bar's outdoor space locked at all times."
As the New York Post reports, court documents show the man and his wife had filed for divorce on Tuesday. In 2008, police were called to their home twice after reports of domestic disputes, one of which was said to have been regarding financial matters.
This marks the second time in four months that someone has met their demise from NYC's highest rooftop bar.
In October, aspiring NYC model Elizabeth Gaglewski fell over the railing and plummeted to the 27th floor, where she was pronounced dead. The 26-year-old was said to have been standing on a ledge at the bar when she fell.
