Jacob Blake’s mother condemns riots that have ravaged Kenosha

CNN's Don Lemon invited Jackson onto his show to find out how she felt about the riots that have broken out in Kenosha following the shooting of her son. Lemon began: "The destruction that has been taking place in cities across the country and in Kenosha—I heard you speak about that. And my question is, you said you don't want that in Jacob's name and neither would he. Tell me more about that, please."

Jackson said that she "absolutely" did not approve, saying "my family and I are very hurt and quite frankly disgusted. And as his mother please don't burn up property and cause havoc and tear your own homes down in my son's name.

"You shouldn't do it. People shouldn't do it anyway, but to use my child or any other mother or father's child, our tragedy to react in that manner is just not acceptable. And it's not helping Jacob. It's not helping Jacob or any other of the men or women who has suffered in these areas."

Lemon appeared to pivot in trying to get Jackson to comment on the politicians and presidential candidates. Jackson replied: "For our President Trump, first I want to say a family member and I don't know if it was heard or not said something that was not kind."

"She is hurting and I do apologize for that. Our outburst does not reflect our behavior."

Jackson was referring to remarks made by Blake's sister, Letetra Wideman, who said: "I'm not sad, I'm not sorry, I'm angry. And I'm tired. ... I stopped crying years ago. I am numb. I have been watching police murder people that look like me for years. I'm also a Black history minor, so not only have I been watching it in the 30 years that I've been on this planet, but I've been 'watching' it for years before we were even alive."

Wideman continued by saying that she does not want people's pity, but that she wants change.

"And when you say the name Jacob Blake, make sure you say father, make sure you say cousin, make sure you say son, make sure you say uncle, but most importantly make sure you say human," Wideman continued. "Human life. Let it marinate in your mind. A human life. ... We're human, and his life matters."

"So many people have reached out to me, telling me they're sorry that this happened to my family," Wideman added. "Well, don't be sorry because this has been happening to my family for a long time, longer than I can account for."

In her interview with Lemon, Jackson went on to say "And also, for President Trump, I'm sorry I missed your call because had I not missed your call, maybe the comments that you made would have been different. And I'm not mad at you at all. I have the utmost respect for you as the leader of our country. Like I said before and I'm not saying this to him directly, we should always get the details from the right source before we start throwing bricks."

The mainstream media has failed to address the atrocities being done in Blake's name, including one rioter pointing a gun at a journalist and another striking a business owner in the head with a blunt object, bloodying his face.
