Students who don't get vaccinated by August 23rd will face weekly testing. The same applies to those who applied for exemptions.

The background as explained by NBC describes how eight Indiana students asked the court for an emergency order to block the vaccine requirement. It was brought on the basis of a cost-benefit analysis for the vaccine in relation to the college age group.

"Protection of others does not relieve our society from the central canon of medical ethics requiring voluntary and informed consent," they said in the request.

The group seeking SCOTUS intervention had to face a federal judge who previously ruled in favor of the school’s right to require vaccinations. As well as the US Circuit Court of Appeals agreeing with the judge.

It’s a hot-button topic right now. Within the last hour there’s reports about a Tennessee State University student suing her school over vaccine mandates.

On the federal level, Dr. Anthony Fauci has recently signaled his favor for the federal government to require teachers across the country to get the COVID vaccine. Something that the state of California today announced as mandatory for their educators, or else they must face regular testing.

Mandates are rolling out in the private sector too, with United Airlines demanding jabs for all US employees being one such example.

A similar requirement is cropping up in Canada. Earlier this week the University of Ottawa announced a vaccine mandate for everyone returning to the campus this semester.
