A Missouri man has been charged after threatening to shoot students at a local school "in the name of Kyle Rittenhouse."
On Saturday December 4, police in Festus, Missouri were alerted to a disturbing social media post made by 27-year-old Michael Lovelace. "I'm going to shoot Festus high school students in the name of Kyle Rittenhouse," the post read, according to KSDK.

Given the all-too-real threat school shooters pose across the country, the Festus R-6 School District and parents of students were notified of Lovelace's disturbing intentions.
As the New York Post reports, Lovelace, a former Festus High-school student himself, has a history of threatening violence on social media against those close to him, as well as police and a former president.
"No wonder schools get shot," one post read, "the news just proved we can get away with it especially if it’s a ******** like Festus."
Lovelace's apparent desire to carry out a school shooting "in the name of Kyle Rittenhouse" comes just weeks after the 18-year-old was acquitted on all charges for shooting three men, killing two, in self defense at a riot in Kenosha, WI in 2020.
Lovelace is currently being held without bond at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office in Hillsboro, MO.
