Dylan Shakespeare Robinson has been sentenced to four years in jail and a whopping $12 million fine for lighting a Molotov cocktail which was then used on a Minneapolis police station.
The actual incident occurred on the night of May 28 2020, during the riots that occurred in the days after the death of George Floyd in police custody on May 25 2020, according to the US Attorney's office. Robinson also allegedly tore down a fence that was protecting the police station.
According to the Daily Mail, acting US Attorney for the region Anders Folk stated:
"On the night of May 28, 2020, Mr. Robinson chose to depart from lawful protest and instead engaged in violence and destruction. The arson at the Minneapolis Police Department's Third Precinct put lives at risk and contributed to widespread lawlessness in Minneapolis."
Robinson had already pleaded guilty in September to a count of conspiracy to commit arson. Three others present have also pleaded guilty and are still awaiting sentencing as of the time of this writing.
