11-year-old girl, 31-year-old brother feared to have had suicide pact after he shot and killed her, then took his own life in Washington town

According to the Daily Mail, Lilea 'Lilly' Stolworthy, 11, and her brother Jordan Brownlow, 31, both died of a gunshot wound to the head in Medical Lake, Washington, after both having multiple suicide attempts in recent years.

The children's mother, Darel Stolworthy, told the outlet that Brownlow sent a text to the family group chat that said, "I'm sorry, please forgive me," causing her to suspect they had agreed to die together.

Court records obtained by the Spokesman showed that Lilly had run away from home around Thanksgiving. Her family then gave some of her things to Brownlow to hold onto.

Lilly then returned home and wanted her items back, per court records, and went to Brownlow's car to get them. Darel then went to investigate after Lilly did not come inside the house, only to then reportedly discover her dead in the street. The Spokane County Sherriff's office said that a witness heard a gunshot and then saw Brownlow's Ford Mustang leaving the area.

He was then found 20 minutes later, slumped over in the front seat of the car with a pistol in his hand. He was pronounced dead at the hospital on Wednesday after being on life support.

Lilly and Jordan were among the 12 children that Darel and her husband shared. Lilly was one of four who was adopted.

On Thursday, the local community held a candlelight vigil for the young girl. Reports of up to 100 people showed up to pay their respects. Stolworthy told the crowd to "get help if you need it."

"She would want you to be happy and healthy. Use her as an example to get help if you need it. Be kind to one another," she said.

Authorities have not commented on Stolworthy's fear that the deaths were part of a suicide pact between the two.
