The New York Young Republican Club is holding a "re-occupy" Wall Street protest in relation to the GameStop stock fiasco. The event is set to take place on January 31, at 12 PM.
The Eventbrite description reads, "Let your voices be heard! We are sick of Wall Street bailouts on the taxpayer dime while the little guy gets stomped!"
This event is seemingly in contrast to the conventional occupy Wall Street protests, populated by left leaning individuals. In this case, it is now the Republicans protesting hedge funds seeking a bailout.
The protest is furthermore motivated by the fact that various trading apps are restricting or forcing users to sell their GameStop stock. Many point out this is a sign that hedge funds have some level of control over the market. The GameStop surge has costed hedge funds billions in losses.
The New York Young Republican Club is the "oldest Young Republican club in the United States. The Club is affiliated with and officially recognized by the New York State Young Republicans and the Young Republican National Federation, as well as the county, state, and national Republican committees."
