Portland Police withhold name of officer involved in fatal shooting after doxxing threats

"PPB is currently investigating concerns related to doxing and threats to PPB members and/or their families related to recent officer-involved shootings," a statement from police said. "The investigation of possible doxing and threats raises safety concerns for officers involved in shootings."

"PPB has determined that there are credible security threats to officers involved in recent shootings and therefore, PPB is withholding the name of the involved member during the pendency of the doxing investigation. Once the investigation is completed, PPB will reassess the security threat and will release the name of the officer involved in the shooting when the threat no longer exists," the statement continued.

On Wednesday evening at around 8:17 pm, officers responded to the 100 block of SE 126th Ave for multiple reports of a man firing a gun in the front yard of the house. Police said that dispatchers could hear shots being fired in the 911 calls.

Officers at the scene requested the assistance of the Focused Intervention Team. One officer from the team shot the suspect during the incident. Paramedics attempted to administer aid, but the suspect was declared deceased at the scene.

An investigation remains ongoing, and the Bureau said that as per policy, they will conduct an internal review as part of a force of review process. This includes reviewing "the initial response, resources requested, tactics used, and post shooting actions."

The case will go before the Police Review Board, "which is composed of community members, Bureau members, and representatives from the Independent Police Review Division."
