Human Events Daily's Jack Posobiec described former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon's upcoming trial as "Banana Republic behavior." Bannon goes to trial on June 18 for a contempt of Congress charge stemming from his refusal to testify before the January 6 select House Committee which is ostensibly investigating that day's Capital Hill riot.
Posobiec articulated Bannon's argument for refusal to testify: it would jeopardize former President Trump's executive privilege.

View on Rumble"The committee is asking about privileged communications that Steve had with President Trump towards the end of his administration, but while he was the president," Posobiec continued.
"President Trump has declared executive privilege over them," he said, and the the Select Committee is "not asking him about what he said, they're asking him about what President Trump said."
In November of 2021, Bannon's refusal to testify resulted in a subpoena which he ignored. He was criminally charged with two contempt counts: one for refusing to appear for a deposition and another for declining to produce documents requested by the committee.
Posobiec focused on the escalatory nature of the charges and the involvement of the FBI and Justice Department by drawing a distinction in procedure.
"Now, you can look back one way or the other and say… maybe that's not executive privilege... but it's clearly not criminal conduct. It's a constitutional debate, a constitutional argument."
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's January 6 Committee and President Biden's Justice Department have created, "a two tiered system of justice. It's not hypocrisy, it's hierarchy."
Posobiec concluded, "This is Banana Republic behavior. They're going after the chief advisors to the President of the United States of the opposition, understand what point in the movie you are in and you better get ready. You better get ready because we have a lot of work to do."
