Quebec to send residents emails with ‘proof of vaccine’ QR codes
Christian Dube, the Minister of Health and Social Services for the province of QC, announced on Thursday that the government in the near future will start to roll out a system where QR codes are sent to people who have been vaccinated.
Christian Dube, the Minister of Health and Social Services for the province of QC, announced on Thursday that the government in the near future will start to roll out a system where QR codes are sent to people who have been vaccinated.
Said Dube during a press conference (these are the words spoken in English by the interpreter):
"As of next Thursday, the 13th of May, people who have already received one dose, or who will go get vaccinated will receive, gradually, an email, asking if they want to get proof of vaccination, a QR code."
"The important thing is that now we have the tool, and as soon as we are able to deploy it, we will have it ready."
"A paper proof will continue to be given on-site after vaccination. I know that you will ask me some questions on the 'vaccine passport', but I'm answering in advance."
"We have asked Public Health to do intensive work on this, so we will come back to you shortly to talk about the use of this proof of vaccines."
Dube also said during the conference that 40 percent of people in Quebec have had to-date at least one vaccine shot.
