On the heels of the "n-word" scandal, it's been revealed that Hunter Biden used a racial slur to refer to Asians in previous text messages with his cousin, President Joe Biden's niece, who asked if he preferred "foreign or domestic" women.
Referring to Asians with the offensive term "yellow" in a 2019 text exchange with his cousin Caroline Biden, the president's controversial son was trying to get over his lover Hallie—also his brother Beau Biden's widow, according to the DailyMail.
In the January 2019 texts, Caroline and Hunter were discussing how to set him up with her rich, model friends. "Do you want foreign or domestic. I can't give you f***ing Asian sorry. I'm not doing it," Caroline told Hunter.
Hunter replied: "Domesticated foreigner is fine. No yellow."
The president's son, then age 49, said he wanted to date 24-year-olds because the young women were "easy to impress." He wrote that "24 is great. Seriously." He added that it's "incredibly easy to impress a 24 year old."
Caroline suggested Hunter signs up for Raya, an exclusive dating app that is known for pairing celebrities and the ultra-wealthy with models and young groupies. She pointed towards Lucy Dahl, famous children's author Roald Dahl's daughter who she described as "super loaded" and "non judgemental." Hunter's cousin even touted Dirty Sexy Money actress and porn director Bella Thorne.
The slur, uncovered from Hunter's abandoned laptop, surfaces amid the rise of racist attacks against Asian Americans. In the wake of the Atlanta-area spa shooting, White House press secretary Jen Psaki blamed the surge of violence against Asian Americans on the former Trump administration.
"I think there's no question that some of the damaging rhetoric that we saw during the prior administration blaming, calling COVID-19 the Wuhan virus, or other things, led to perceptions of the Asian community that are inaccurate, unfair, that have raised y'know threatening, that have elevated threats against Asian Americans, and we're seeing that around the country," Psaki said.
The Senate passed legislation mid-April designed to address the rise of anti-Asian hate crimes. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer praised the bipartisan passage of the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act: "Bigots, we're going after you."
Hunter's father vowed last month to "stop the hatred and the bias" against Asians across the country. The president then signed into law the legislation to expedite the review of COVID-19 related hate crimes.
The recent revelation, the second regarding Hunter's use of racial slurs in text conversations from his laptop, comes after DailyMail revealed that he used the "n-word" multiple times in banter with his white lawyer. In the days since the "n-word" texts surfaced, the majority of mainstream media outlets failed to cover Hunter's use of the derogatory term. Left-wing networks such as CNN, ABC, and MSNBC refused to dedicate notable air time to the story while the front pages of The New York Times and Washington Post have also not featured the report.
The lack of media coverage prompted outrage among conservatives who accused the liberal press of possessing double standards. The hashtag #RacistHunter started trending on social media as Twitter users lambasted the media's silence.
