Social media on Sunday was flooded with praise for the remarks of the Rev. Louis Farrakhan during the funeral of rap artist DMX. Farrakhan has an extensive history of racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic statements.
Shark Tank investor and founder of FUBU, Daymond John, praised the leader of the Nation of Islam’s remarks and said, "What a powerful speech from Minister Louis Farrakhan for the #dmxfuneral His deep understanding of the Bible and respect for other people’s religions was truly inspiring. #RIPDMX." After several hours, John deleted the tweet and posted an explanation.

View on XUsers on social media were quick to call out the comments which ignored Farrakhan’s history of racism and hate. One user wrote, "Apparently in 2021, antisemitism is cool? Another posted, "Tell me more about Farrakhan’s respect for the Jewish religion, I want to hear about that."
Farrakhan’s decades of hate have been well documents by the ADL. "Farrakhan has embarked on a wide-ranging campaign specifically targeting the Jewish community, a campaign that has featured some of the most hateful speeches of his tenure as head of NOI. Farrakhan has alleged that the Jewish people were responsible for the slave trade and that they conspire to control the government, the media and Hollywood, as well as various black individuals and organizations. He frequently denies the legitimacy of Judaism – or Jewish claim to the land of Israel -- arguing that Judaism is nothing more than a 'deceptive lie' and a 'theological error' promoted by Jews to further their 'control' over America’s government and economy."
In March, The Grammys featured a speech by Tamika Mallory, one of the former leaders of the Women’s March and a left-wing activist who was ousted after being accused of antisemitism, including her support Farrakhan.
