Shooting at Nats-Padres game leaves 3 wounded, raises questions about safety in DC

The Metropolitan Police Department has stated that the shooting occurred outside of the stadium, located in Washington, DC, and left three people injured, including a woman who was attending the game who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

According to ESPN, the two other victims were in a car in the parking lot. They are also both currently in hospital and being interviewed by police.

The incident caused widespread panic among the fans inside, who heard the gunshots and, in many cases, thought that they had occurred inside the stadium.

Umpire chief Mark Carlson stated, "It was just a chaotic scene. We heard what sounded like rapid gunfire. We didn't know where it was coming from.''

People began either searching for cover or leaving the stadium in droves. The announcer was mentioning that the incident occurred outside the stadium, and that therefore people should not leave.

Jason Epstein, who was at the Nats-Padre game Saturday night, told The Post Millennial: "This incident, along with last winter's carjacking death of the food delivery driver also outside the park and overall surge in violent crime, illustrates the need for the city to ditch the political grandstanding and instead prove to fans and residents alike that it takes public safety seriously."

Political commentator Caleb Hull noted that the public is only voicing concern because the shooting took place "in a stuck up, gentrified area."

"If you drop this exact same scenario into Chicago none of them bat an eye. I'm so sick of the fake outrage," Hull added on Twitter late Saturday night.

Hull pointed out that there was a shooting where two individuals were injured in Washington a few nights ago and "almost no one cared."

"Every shooting sucks, but when you only display outrage and immediately push for gun control when it happens in a nicer area, we can all see right through the garbage. Pray for the victims," Hull commented.

He further stated that the stadium is a gun free zone. "If libs are going to immediately politicize this garbage, we have every right to point out how stupid their arguments are," Hull countered. "One look at the trend and you see every other blue check calling for gun control and blaming the NRA."

"Libs think they can immediately politicize a tragedy and then they’re invincible and no one can point out how flawed they are," Hull concluded.
