Source: New coronavirus infection at senior apartment building in Battleground, Wash.

According to the source, an elderly man who resides in the Magnolia Square Senior Apartments in Battle Ground, Wash., tested positive for COVID-19 this morning. The man, who is not being named, fell ill after returning last month a road trip with his wife. It is unclear which locations he visited.

Washington state has had the most coronavirus-related deaths in the U.S., with 67 dead as of today. Most who died resided at the Life Care Center nursing facility in Kirkland, Wash.

The Post Millennial reached out to the Battle Ground Fire Department, who had treated the patient when he called 911 on March 3, but did not hear back by time of publication.

The source says the man was discharged from the hospital for many days before getting his COVID-19 positive test result. TPM reached out to Clark County Public Health for comment.

When TPM reached the Magnolia Square Senior Apartments, which houses over 40 elderly and disabled residents—the population most vulnerable to COVID-19—a receptionist said she could not provide comment. She directed inquiries to Cascade Management, Inc. who owns the buildings. As of publication, Cascade Management, Inc. has not responded for comment. However, signs have been posted at the apartment complex which read: “A resident tested positive in the community and you need to follow public health guidelines. If you have symptoms, contact a doctor.”

Battle Ground, Wash. is located around 26 miles north of Portland, Ore. Local media reported yesterday that Portland is considering a “shelter in place” policy to limit infections as deaths continue to climb in the Pacific Northwest.
