Donald Trump Jr. slams General Milley for ‘treasonous coup’

According to leaked excerpts from the book "Peril," US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley allegedly called his Chinese counterpart twice before the 2020 presidential election on October 30, 2020, and two days after the January 6 Capitol riot on January 8, 2021.

Those phone calls supposedly were never mentioned to Trump, as Milley believed his mental state had declined following the election.

Trump Jr. responded Tuesday to the assertions made by the book over Twitter.

"The idea that Trump — who devoted his presidency to ending war — would want war is ridiculous," he tweeted. "If Milley thought that, he’s a moron."

"If he didn’t think that but did what he’s said to have done anyway, he came way closer to a treasonous coup than anyone at the Capitol on Jan 6."

He also tweeted: “Fake News gonna Fake News,” in response to an argument by NBC Host Andrea Mitchell that Milley was right to commit treason despite the chairman’s “delusions” holding no merit.

Milley first contacted Gen. Li Zuocheng after Chinese officials believed the US planned an attack on China amid military exercises in the South China Sea.

The authors of the book also claimed Milley contacted Zuocheng a second time to reassure him that the US would not make any type of advances or attack China in any form.

"We are 100 percent steady. Everything’s fine. But democracy can be sloppy sometimes," he supposedly told Zuocheng.

Trump also responded Tuesday: "For the record, I never even thought of attacking China — and China knows that. The people that fabricated the story are sick and demented, and the people who print it are just as bad. In fact, I’m the only President in decades who didn’t get the U.S. into a war—a well known fact that is seldom reported."
