Investigator David Hull said an officer with the Spanish Fork Police stopped the vehicle, in which the officer took note of the license plate.
The second day of Tyler Robinson’s preliminary hearing began with continued testimony of a former Utah State Bureau of Investigation investigator, with the courtroom being shown footage of a person who is believed to be Robinson moving throughout the campus of Utah Valley University on the day Charlie Kirk was fatally shot.
David Hull, a Utah Department of Public Safety Peace Officer Standards and Training investigator who was working as an SBI Major Crimes Division investigator at the time of the shooting, went through the movements seen in the surveillance footage provided by the school.
The first video showed the vehicle allegedly driven by Robinson arriving at UVU’s campus on September 10, 2025 at around 8:30 am, driving into a parking garage. Hull said information uncovered through DMV records shows a vehicle owned by Robinson that matches the car seen in the video.
Robinson was seen leaving the car and moving through the parking garage, video showed. Hull said Robinson left the parking garage on foot and went to the amphitheater area where Kirk was holding his event later that same day. Hull said Robinson "makes contact with some representatives from TPUSA" in the courtyard.
He was seen returning to his vehicle at around 9:25 am, and driving away. He was later seen returning to campus on foot from a neighborhood to the northeast of the school carrying a backpack. He returned just after 10 am. During this trip to campus, Hull said Robinson went to a Chick-fil-A in the Sorensen building near the amphitheater area, purchasing some food.

From there, Hull said Robinson moved across campus to a wooded area in the northeast, and then returned to campus. Hull noted that Robinson was no longer carrying the backpack. He went through a number of campus buildings before crossing a railing that gives access to the roof of the Losee building. He then comes back down the stairs and walks off campus at around 11 am.
The next video showed a person believed to be Robinson back in the parking garage, changed into different clothing he was seen in earlier in the day, walking with a different gait up the stairs. Robinson was seen moving through campus before returning to the Losee building’s roof at around 12:15 pm. He was seen running across the rooftop to the building’s southwest corner, crouching down, and crawling to the edge.

After the shot was fired, striking Kirk in the neck, the person believed to be Robinson was seen crossing the rooftop, lowering himself, and jumping off the roof into a grass area before moving away towards Campus Drive. Hull said Robinson "appears to be carrying some kind of an object in his hand at this time." He then crosses Campus Drive and goes into a wooded area.
The footage then jumps to the early hours of September 11th, showing the vehicle believed to be driven by Robinson at the intersection of Campus Drive and 800 South. Hull said an officer with the Spanish Fork Police stopped the vehicle, during which the officer took note of the license plate. The officer interacted with Robinson during the stop.
