While stories of looting in California grew more commonplace throughout 2021, this one has the suspect wielding a pickaxe.
According to Fox 11, the Los Angeles Police Department had to respond to a more unusual robbery call in the Venice Beach area. A woman was filmed dragging a basket filled with stolen items in one hand, and a tool that prospectors use to mine for gold in the other: a pickaxe.

"I don’t want to smell like sh*t when I knock these b*tch*s down," the woman explained.
A young girl huddled close to her mother as the pair quickly left the Rite Aid.
Upon leaving the store, the pickaxe lady threatened everyone in the store to keep quiet about her escapades. 'Don't say sh*t. Shut the f*ck up. Be quiet and follow suit. They don’t know nothing."
In a spree of organized crimes that picked up since Thanksgiving – establishment media "crime experts" warned about the usage of the term "looting" – as gangs of dozens of individuals pilfered the shelves of California Nordstroms and Apple stores. The robberies have become known as "smash-and-grab" thefts.
Public attention on the matter grew even further after the LAPD said while they did arrest over a dozen robbers early on in December, they had to let them go because of the city’s zero-bail policy that gets in the way of authorities being capable of detaining them.
Progressive DA George Gascon instituted a "zero bail" policy upon coming into office, and that has benefited criminals because they are not held after arrest. The LAPD
arrested 14 alleged robbers connected to 11 store robberies during which almost $340,000 worth of goods were stolen. Those arrested for those crimes were not held due to the "zero bail" policy.
"All the suspects taken into custody are out of custody, either as a result of one juvenile, or the others as a result of bailing out or zero-bail criteria," said LAPD Chief Michel Moore at a Thursday evening news conference.
On Thursday, a shootout between officers and an armed assault suspect led to a gunfight that ended up killing a 14-year-old girl bystander who hid away in the dressing room.
