Friday night, before California Congressman Kevin McCarthy was voted Speaker of the House after 15 rounds of voting, a heated confrontation took place between Florida Representative Matt Gaetz, who opposed McCarthy's bids in every round, and Alabama Congressman Mike Rogers, a staunch ally to the new speaker.
The C-SPAN video of the exchange only provides ambient noise, but the Daily Mail reports that Rogers shouted, "You're finished" at Gaetz, and according to Fox News, Rogers added "I won't forget this."

Fox News reports that Gaetz mentioned a "committee" in their conversation. The Florida Congressman sits on the House Armed Services Committee, which is chaired by Alabama Representative Rogers.
After McCarthy walked away, Rogers approached and made the apparent threats to Gaetz.
North Carolina Representative Richard Hudson intervened and pulled Rogers away, at one point placing his hand over the Congressman's mouth and face.
On Twitter, Gaetz retweeted a meme of the events.

View on XVoting for McCarthy began on Tuesday and went through several rounds before he reached the majority vote threshold to become Speaker. After 20 GOP representatives did not vote for McCarthy across several rounds, with Gaetz a prominent leader of McCarthy's opposition, 14 eventually cast their ballots for support on Friday during the 12th round.
McCarthy had made major concessions to the 20, such as single-subject bills, the creation of a Church-style committee, a single congressman to put up a motion to vacate the Speaker's chair, and allowing a vote on term limits.
After the 14 were found amenable to the concessions, Gaetz, along with Representative Lauren Boebert, continued to lead the charge against McCarthy and brought along GOP Reps. Biggs, Crane, Good and Rosenthal.
In both the 14th and 15th rounds, Boebert and Gaetz voted "present."
