Rapper Nicki Minaj joined President Donald Trump at a rally in Michigan on Sunday, voicing her support for the president and urging voters to back Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections. Her presence prompted one White House official to joke that she could become the next press secretary.

Minaj was with Trump as he arrived aboard Air Force One at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, wearing a Gucci skirt and jacket. During the rally, she took the stage and led the crowd in a “We love Trump” chant.

“I am so honored to be working with this president. He represents resilience,” Minaj said.

The rapper urged Michigan voters, particularly those in the closely contested state, to support Republicans in November, arguing that the party was necessary to protect the country’s future. She cited Democrats' support for sex change operations for minors, saying it was important to vote Republican to protect children.

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung posted a sarcastic video on X featuring Minaj aboard Air Force One. In the clip, Cheung posed questions to the rapper as if conducting a press briefing, and Minaj replied.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!” Cheung wrote.

The joke comes amid uncertainty surrounding the vacant position following the resignation of Katie Zacharia, who held the job for just five days.

Minaj’s appearance is the latest in a series of public endorsements of Trump and the Republican Party. In June, she attended a White House luncheon and stood alongside Trump in the Oval Office, referring to him as her “favorite president of all time.”

Minaj also appeared at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest conference in Phoenix last year, where she announced she has the “utmost respect and admiration” for President Trump and Vice President JD Vance.

"But this administration is full of people with heart and soul, and they make me proud of them. Our Vice President, he makes me well. I love both of them,” Minaj said at the time. “They're both powerful men, smart, strong, all of that, but both of them have a very uncanny ability to be someone that you relate to. I can relate to them. When I hear them speak, I know that they're one of us."
