Reports have revealed that presidential candidate Nikki Haley's South Carolina home was swatted in December.

According to record obtained by Reuters, authorities responded to a swatting attempt on Haley's residence in South Carolina last month when a man called police and claimed to have shot a woman and was threatening to harm himself at Haley's address on Dec. 30.

The previously unreported swatting incident is among a wave of violent threats that have taken place targeting political figures.

Kiawah Island Director of Safety Craig Harris reportedly told town officials in an email that an unknown person called 911 and "claimed to have shot his girlfriend and threatened to harm himself while at the residence of Nikki Haley."

"It was determined to be a hoax ... Nikki Haley is not on the island and her son is with her," the email read, according to the outlet.

In the email, Harris told the town officials he was in contact with South Carolina police, the FBI, and the head of Haley's security. He wrote, "This incident is being investigated by all involved."

An FBI official in a separate email told Harris and other officers that the federal government was tracking the hoax and and were going to go through a "threat assesment."

Other targets of swatting have included family members of Human Events Senior Editor Jack Posobiec, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Steve Bannon.
