New York has fallen way behind most other states when it comes to the percentage of its residents who have received the vaccine for the novel coronavirus, with just 12.8 percent having received even one of the doses.
Apparently, this reported slump has been the result of poor performance over just the past few weeks.
According to Hot Air, NY state was near the median line for percentage of population receiving vaccinations, but has recently fallen into the bottom 10 states. It has also used up 70.3 percent of its current supply of vaccinations, which puts it in the bottom 10 states in that category as well.
The state has been subject to harsh criticism due to the handling of the pandemic in general, especially as it pertains to the disaster which happened in the state's nursing homes.
Highly-populated New York City has even worse numbers, with just 12.3 percent of residents having received at least one shot of the vaccine.
Some people are pointing to the unusually bad winter weather the state has received as a possible excuse for the lag in the vaccine's roll-out. However, it can be pointed out that much of the US has been suffering from similar record-breaking winter weather, and are not doing as poorly in rolling out the vaccine.
