As the global case numbers for coronavirus continue to rise, so too does the number of confirmed recoveries, according to the Daily Mail. The world has now seen over a million recoveries from the coronavirus, that has shuttered economies and turned much of humanity into home-bound hermits.

Johns Hopkins University revealed figures that showed that the million-recovery milestone was reached last night.

Of Canada's 53,236 cases, there have been a confirmed 21,423 recoveries. In the US, there have been over 153,000 recoveries, while Germany has seen 123,000 and Spain 112,000.

Over 3 million people have contracted the virus around the world, and though 230,000 of those have succumbed to the illness, there have been four times as many recoveries.

The true number of cases worldwide is not entirely known, because most of those who are tested are already symptomatic. It is believed that many of those who contract coronavirus remain asymptomatic, have light cases, and are not formally tested, opting instead to recover in self-isolation.

Many nations, such as the UK, do not keep a daily record of recoveries. The official UK number is 859 recoveries out of 171,253 cases. While this indicates a .5 percent recovery rate, the likelihood is that this number is much higher.

To be classified officially as recovered, a patient must spend 72 hours fever-free without aid of a fever reducer, and have two tests both with negative results taken 24 hours apart.
