A manhunt was underway in Saskatchewan after two shooting deaths and one injury occurred in a First Nation home. The suspect has since been arrested.
RCMP says a shooting occurred during an altercation at a home in the community located about 180 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.
According to CTV News, police searched for 33-year-old Shawn Moostoos, who authorities say was known to the victims. Moostoos was arrested Monday afternoon at a home in Melfort without incident.
RCMP say a 37-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were killed and another man, 44, was taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The names of the victims are being withheld, but families have been notified. The shooting occurred on the James Smith First Nation on Sunday evening.
Police had alleged the suspect might be armed when an emergency alert was first issued on Sunday night, but was lifted by Monday morning.
The suspect was described as six feet tall and about 190 pounds with brown hair and eyes and a scar on his left hand. He was listed as driving a white 2003 Pontiac Montana. Police had asked residents not to approach the suspect.
