The "Make America Great Again Victory Rally" will take place on January 19 at Capitol One Arena.
The president-elect is slated to speak at the rally along with a number of other speakers who have not yet been announced. The venue, which is home to the Washington Capitals NHL hockey team and the Washington Wizards NBA basketball team, can hold approximately 20,000 people. Trump will be sworn in the following day at the US Capitol, and there will be several events throughout the day to mark the celebration.
This will be the first rally Trump has held in Washington, D.C., since the "Stop the Steal" rally on January 6, 2021, which preceded the infamous riot at the US Capitol. That rally was held outdoors at the famed Elipse near the White House. Security is likely to be tight given that there have been two attempts made on the incoming president's life. The first was while on the campaign trail in Butler, PA on July 13, while the other was at the Trump International Golf Course in Florida where Trump was playing golf on a sunny September Sunday.
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser met with Donald Trump earlier this week. According to The Hill, the mayor said she had a "great meeting" with the president-elect, and the two discussed "our shared priorities" for his second term. The inauguration will be held on January 20 and the rally is the same day as many inauguration parties are set to take place throughout the district.
