"He tapped into something the Republicans never saw, which was anger and populism on that side," John Morgan told Politico.
"I don't know if Trump is a stable genius, but he's a f*cking genius. He tapped into something the Republicans never saw, which was anger and populism on that side," Morgan told Politico.
Morgan changed his voter registration to Independent after leaving the Democratic Party several years ago over its shift to the left. He is considering running for Governor of Florida under a new political party he launched called the "Capitalist Party," the publication reported.
The lawyer previously attacked the Harris campaign's extravagant spending after Trump defeated her in November, claiming that the vice president "cannot be trusted" with donor money.
"I don't think she has a political future," Morgan told NewsNation's Chris Cuomo. Additionally, Morgan said that the money raised for the 2024 Harris campaign was not because donors wanted to support Harris, but rather because they wanted to see Trump defeated. He compared the Harris-Walz campaign to the movie franchise "Mad Max."
Breitbart News reported that Morgan's law firm, Morgan & Morgan, donated more than $765,000 to Democrats during the 2024 general election cycle. In August 2020, the firm donated $355,000 to the Biden Victory Fund. Morgan also donated $6.5 million to support the legalization of medical marijuana in Florida, according to the Orlando Business Journal.
Furthermore, Morgan declared in April that Democrats were "prepared to lose" the presidential election to Trump, well before President Joe Biden exited the race and Harris was named the nominee.
