President Donald Trump has said that Chinese President Xi Jinping wants to see the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz ended a ceasefire between the US and Iran continues.

Human Events Daily Host Jack Posobiec asked the president about the impacts of the closing of the Strait of Hormuz on China. "We have a very good relationship with China. [Xi] would like to see this ended also. He certainly wants it ended... I want to see it ended too. But we can't give a nuclear weapon to a group of people that have caused nothing but havoc for 47 years. Look, I'm the president that's done something about it. This should have, and many other presidents regret that they didn't."

Posobiec posted after asking the question and said, "President Trump just confirmed to me that Chairman Xi Jinping also wants the Iran / Strait of Hormuz crisis to end, as he prepares to visit Beijing on May 14."

Prior to the start of the conflict, a large portion of the oil that was flowing out of Iran was going to China. Although China has been getting some oil shipments since the start of the war, the blockade on the strait from the US may block Iran from exporting the oil to its largest customer, per CNBC

Over the weekend, Trump imposed the blockade, saying on Truth Social, “Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz. Iran will not be allowed to profit off this Illegal Act of EXTORTION. They want money and, more importantly, they want Nuclear. … THIS IS WORLD EXTORTION, and Leaders of Countries, especially the United States of America, will never be extorted. I have also instructed our Navy to seek and interdict every vessel in International Waters that has paid a toll to Iran. No one who pays an illegal toll will have safe passage on the high seas.”
