President Donald Trump has announced that there will be a two-week ceasefire, and the Strait of Hormuz will open up after he ramped up threats against the Iran regime on Tuesday.
"Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE!"
"The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East. We received a 10 point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate. Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran, but a two week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated. On behalf of the United States of America, as President, and also representing the Countries of the Middle East, it is an Honor to have this Longterm problem close to resolution. The move from Trump comes after he made a threat early on Tuesday against the Iran regime: "A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?"
"We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!" he added at the time.
The threats against the Iranian regime have been escalating from the Trump administration in recent days, with the president saying that the US military will take out power plants as well as bridges. A deadline for the impending attack had been set at 8 pm eastern time.
Iranians have praised Trump's actions along with the US military in the region. During a White House briefing on Monday, Trump talked about how the Iranian people—who overwhelmingly oppose the regime—have been asking for the US military to continue their bombing campaign against the IRGC, even when the bombs are close to their homes.
One account which claims to be Iranian with the X handle, @Sonofthebeach22, said in response to the White House briefing, "This is the most accurate and complete description of the hell that the mullahs have created for us, and an explanation of why these people demand the continuation of this war."
Trump spoke about the number of people in the region have said, "Please keep bombing. Do it!"
Another X account claiming to be Iranian posted in response to Trump's earlier threat directed at the Iranian regime, "Whatever happens, as long as enough of Iran remains to save, we Iranians will rise up and topple this regime. ... The Islamic Republic worships death and kills its own citizens with impunity. I pray that president Trump delivers on his promise, and that the US and Israel level the playing field so we can finally deal with the regime — without destroying too much of Iran, so there’s still something left to save and rebuild. Trump's words are usually extreme, so I hope 'end of a civilization' is just scare tactics. Soon, this nightmare of evil will end. I know it in my heart."
