Shane Goldsby wound up with the man who raped his younger sister as his cellmate, and when the man, Robert Munger, bragged about it, Goldsby killed him.

The incident occurred in the Airway Heights Corrections Center in Washington State. Goldsby's rage got the best of him and he hit Munger repeatedly many times, then stomped repeatedly on his head and kicked him. Munger wound up dying of his injuries later.

According to local outlet KHQ, Goldsby was at the time serving a sentence for stealing a police car and starting a prolonged high-speed chase, which ended in a crash that injured a Washington State Trooper.

Munger, who was serving a 43-year sentence for multiple counts of child molestation, apparently kept bragging about his crimes to Goldsby:

"He kept … giving me details about what happened and what he did. About the photos and videos of him doing this stuff, and it was building up," said Goldsby when interviewed. Then, he realized that his baby sister was among Munger's victims.

"I was like, 'What the f**k?’… This stuff doesn’t happen,'  You’re talking the same institution, the same unit, the same pod in the same cell as this dude. That’s like hitting the jackpot in the casino seven times."

Goldsby also said that the guards and prison officials received multiple requests for a new cellmate from him, but his please fell on deaf ears. He continued:

"I feel set up. You’re talking about this dude who did some sick, twisted things to my little sis. My family. My blood. My life. And you want to put me face-to-face with this dude?"

Goldsby has now been sentenced to just under 25 years of prison for killing Munger.

Critics consider this to be another case of gross mismanagement and incompetence by the prison system.
