Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate Kamala Harris was heckled by pro-Palestinian activists during her campaign rally in Detroit. Michigan. Harris told the protestors that their behavior risks handing the presidential election to former President Donald Trump.

The group began chanting, “Kamala! Kamala! You Can’t Hide! We Won’t Vote for Genocide!”

She tried to quell the pro-Palestinian activists by stating “I’m here because we believe in democracy. Everyone’s voice matters, but I am speaking now.”

After multiple chants and disruptions, the Democratic presidential nominee said, “You know what? If you want Donald Trump to win, then say that. Otherwise, I’m speaking,” and then paused to stare down the activists. The protesters were later escorted out by campaign staffers.

So far, during her brief presidential campaign, Harris has avoided disruptions at her rallies by activists who oppose Israel’s war against Palestinian terrorists following members of Hamas raping, torturing and executing over 1,200 people and taking another 250 hostage on Oct. 7, 2023.

Before dropping out of the contest, President Joe Biden was regularly heckled at events, with activists calling him “Genocide Joe.” Some polling showed Arab and Muslim voters would likely not support him in the election. Michigan has a large number of Arab and Muslim residents.

Trump won the presidency in 2016 with upset wins in Michigan and other swing states and was defeated by Biden in 2020 when the Democrat flipped the states back.

It was revealed after the event that Harris had briefly met with pro-Palestinian activists before the rally who were the leaders of a group that mobilized tens of thousands of voters in Michigan to withhold their votes from President Joe Biden in the primary because of the administration’s support of Israel’s war against Palestinian terrorists.

"Michigan voters want to support you, but we need a policy that will save lives in Gaza right now. I meet with community members every day in Michigan who are losing tens and hundreds of family members in Gaza. Right now, we need an arms embargo," co-founder of Uncommitted Layla Elabed told Harris, the group said, per NBC News.

The meeting seemed to do little to quell the activists during the rally.
