Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA) went on "Fox And Friends First" on Monday to talk about the upcoming "stimulus" bill, which, according to him, amounts to "$2 trillion of wasteful spending."

"Democrats call it the "COVID stimulus" when 91% of their massive $1.9 trillion bill has nothing to do with COVID. If we really want to stimulate the economy, force the states still enforcing absurd lockdowns (ex. CA and NY) to open up – don't reward them with federal bailouts!"

When asked "Tell me the issues that you have with this [bill]," Rep. Hice commented:

"I mean, it's 'where do you begin?' There's so much in this bill that's just outright wrong. One point nine trillion dollars, and less than nine percent of it actually goes to Covid relief."

"It's filled with bailout programs, $350 billion going to bail out states. We have money going for a rapid transit program in [House Speaker Nancy, D-CA] Pelosi's district, a bridge in [Sen., D-NY] Schumer's district."

"A hundred and twenty-eight billion for schools over the next seven years. Only five percent going to schools right now. The pandemic is going to be over by the end of the year, and yet we are going to be paying schools for seven more years."

"There's money for endowments for the arts, for Amtrak, it just goes on and on. People, Americans, are going to get $1400, but this is going to cost them $5700 a piece. So the Americans are losing $4300 with this $1.9 trillion monstrosity."

Then, when asked about if any of the concessions suggested by House Democrats have "made this bill more palatable", Rep. Hice responded:

"Absolutely not. I mean, it's still just $2 trillion of wasteful spending. Look, the only way that you can stimulate the economy is to open it. What good is it for us to charge the American people $5700, giving them back $1400 and claim that that's a win while we're still in the process of keeping schools closed and businesses closed?"

"The effort needs to be directed to coming out of this pandemic and restoring the livelihoods of both individuals and businesses, and his bill does nothing of the sort. This is a continued pathway to bankrupting our country."
