Gow is still on paid leave, and continues to be paid a nearly triple-digit salary.
It has been revealed that Joe Gow, the ex-chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse who was removed after sharing explicit videos of himself and his wife online, is still receiving a $92,000 salary while maintaining a professor’s position.
Gow was removed from his position as Chancellor and kept his communications professor position after being placed on paid leave in December when university officials discovered his pornographic content. He was also banned from campus and has still not been allowed back.
According to the New York Post, Gow is still on paid leave, and continues to be paid his $92,000 salary, which was reduced from the $263,000 he made as chancellor.
While he and his wife, former UW-La Crosse professor Carmen Wilson, are still producing x-rated videos. Gow said it's more of a hobby, not a way to replace the income he's lost.
Gow is scheduled to attend a hearing later this year to determine whether or not officials will allow him to return to the university, and in what capacity. He also faces charges of unethical conduct, failing to cooperate with an investigation, and using the school's computers to produce pornographic materials.
The charges were filed by the interim chancellor regarding two e-books, Monogamy with Benefits: How Porn Enriches Our Relationship and Married with Benefits — Our Real-Life Adult Industry Adventures, Gow and his wife wrote. The couple has maintained that the books never mentioned the university, or that Gow's work there.
While University of Wisconsin System President Jay Rothman claimed that Gow's actions caused "significant reputational harm" to the school, he maintained in an interview with the Post that, "what I do with my wife — on my own time and using my own equipment — is none of their business."
Gow and his wife have described themselves as a "passionate plant-powered couple." They began posting videos to their "Sexy Happy Couple" account on various social media sites in early December.
