Former Trump administration press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Monday will announce her run for Arkansas Governor, according to multiple news outlets.

NBC News broke the story, citing "two people familiar with her plans," and reported that Sanders will announce her candidacy via video.

Her father, former Arkansas Republican Governor Mike Huckabee who served from 1996 to 2007, is expected to launch her candidacy.

According to NBC Sanders has considered running since leaving her position at the White House in 2019 where she served for two years and has been planning for the campaign over the past year.

Current Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson is term limited.

According to The Associated Press, Republicans, Lieutenant Governor Tim Griffin and Attorney General Leslie Rutledge have already announced their intention to run for the position. Sanders is expected to have a polling and fundraising edge over the other candidates as well as national name recognition.
