Corey Comperatore will be honored on Friday evening at Don Martin's Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania after he was killed at a Trump rally in Butler on July 13.

Sprint car driver Spencer Bayston, who is a driver on the CJB Motorsports team, will be in a vehicle with wings that have a message and picture of him honoring his life after he died while shielding his family from a spray of bullets shot by Thomas Matthew Crooks, who attempted to shoot Donald Trump as the 45th president spoke.

Bayson posted, "Racing in honor of Corey Comperatore tonight [at] Lernerville. I never had the pleasure to meet Corey, but any man who protects his family from danger and puts other’s safety first is a true American Hero."

A picture on the front wing of the vehicle reads "Corey Comperatore, True American Hero." In a Facebook post on the topic, CJB Motorsports said, "Those of you that are Lernerville Speedway, stick around after the race. The front wing will be presented to Corey’s Fire Company for them to display."

Partners for the event include "TrueTimber Camo, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landisburg Block and Concrete, FillPools.com, High Performance Lubricants, Vahlco Wheels, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Ecynbro Trucking, Fine Line Auto Body, [and] Highlands’ Power Sports" as stated on the post from CJB sports.

The race will get started at 7:30pm with hot laps starting at 6:30pm.

Comperatore was a former voluntary firefighter in Pennsylvania. He had attended the Butler, Pennsylvania Trump rally with his family that day when the shots rang out. While one hit Trump in the ear, some of the eight bullets found other targets it the crowd. Comperatore died after being struck in the head. Marine vet David Dutch as well as James Copenhaver were critically injured during the chaos but survived.
