On Thursday, Atlanta authorities arrested a male suspect on arson charges in connection to an attack that occurred in protest of the future site of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, dubbed "Cop City" by left wing agitators.
John Robert Mazurek, 30, has been charged with first-degree arson. He is accused of being involved in the arson of a police special operations center that occurred in July 2023, according to Atlanta News First. Police said that officers had been occupying the center when the arson occurred.
According to authorities, eight police motorcycles were set on fire in the parking deck on the 1000 block of South Side Industrial Park.
Mazurek's arrest came while multiple agencies were searching three locations believed to contain evidence related to arson and vandalism incidents, Atlanta Police Department Chief Darin Schierbaum said.

"The people of Atlanta deserve to be protected by well-trained, well-equipped first responders," said Schierbaum. "You can chant all day long, 'If you build it, we will burn it.' But if you set police cars on fire, we’re gonna find you and we’re gonna arrest you."
In September, more than 60 individuals allegedly involved in violent "Stop Cop City" demonstrations were arrested on RICO charges, while some were hit with domestic terrorism charges. The violent suspects were not just contained in Atlanta, Georgia, but lived in a few different areas throughout the US.
Police made an announcement in December offering a $200,000 reward for information that would result in the perpetrators' arrest and conviction for arson. In places like Detroit, Seattle, Nashville, and New York, where authorities think the suspects may have connections, it was promoted on 450 billboards.
In January, Seth Brock Spigner, 23, of South Carolina, was taken into custody. Spigner is accused of setting a construction company's equipment on fire and spray painting slogans such as "Stop Cop City." The company targeted by the far-left Antifa-affiliated protesters reportedly has ties to the police training center.
