Dean Cain, an actor who portrayed Superman in the 1990s TV show "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," told Fox News’ Jesse Watters Primetime on Wednesday that he is joining Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Cain explained that he had put out a recruitment video on Tuesday, in which he laid out the benefits interested parties would get for joining ICE, of which Watters had shown a clip on his show.

"I wasn’t a part of ICE, but once I put that pout there and you put a little blurb on your show, it went crazy," Cain, who said he is also a sworn deputy sheriff and reserve police officer, told Watters. "So now I’ve spoke with some officials over at ICE, and I will be sworn in as an ICE agent ASAP."

"So they’ll have 80,001 recruits for the 10,000 positions," he continued. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revealed on Wednesday that the agency has received 80,000 applications for positions with ICE.

Cain said he was doubtful that he would be out on the streets with those ICE agents apprehending illegal immigrants, "but I would be there in a heartbeat."

"These brave men and women need someone to stand up for them. So rarely, you know, these days are we seeing that. Someone like Daniel Penny stands up, he gets vilified. Dan Bongino steps up, gives up five million a year and goes and takes his position at the FBI. This is the kind of thing where people have to step up. I’m stepping up."

"Hopefully a whole bunch of other former officers, former ICE agents will step up and we’ll meet those recruitment goals immediately and will help protect this country," he said.

This comes as age restrictions for ICE have been removed, with the minimum age being 18 and the cap being done away with. Noem said on Wednesday, "We no longer have a cap on how old you can be, or you can continue at age 18. Sign up for ICE and join us and be a part of it. We'll get you trained and ready to be equipped to go out on the streets and help protect families."
