The suspect in Tuesday's school shooting in a high school in Oxford, Michigan has been charged with not only murder, but terrorism as well.

On Tuesday, a 15-year-old allegedly opened fire at Oxford High School in Michigan, killing four and injuring several more. He has since been charged with not only murder, but one count of terrorism as well.

As Fox News reported, the inclusion of a terrorism charge is not typical, but Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald argued it was necessary in order to give justice to the victims.

McDonald said that while those who were killed or injured are victims of first-degree murder and assault with the intent to murder, the other students who lived but nonetheless experienced the shooting were also impacted. It is this latter group for whom the terrorism charge was brought against the shooter.

The suspect had reportedly recorded videos the night before the shooting declaring that he would soon carry out the act. A diary was also found in his backpack containing similar notes.

The gun allegedly used by the suspect is believed to have been purchased by his father just days before the shooting took place. Some have called for charges to be brought upon the parents for improperly storing the gun.

The suspect appeared in court via video on Wednesday. Despite being a minor, he is set to be charged as an adult, and will be held without bond before being transferred to Oakland County Jail.
