Sally McAuliffe, the adult daughter of Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe, uploaded a photo of herself posing in front of a campaign sign for her father's opponent in the upcoming race, showing her middle finger to the camera.
The photo was taken right outside of the Republican City Committee in the town of Lynchburg. The 21-year-old, who is actively involved in her father's run for Virginia governor, was accompanied by four of her friends, three of them giving the thumbs-up sign to her crude gesture. The younger McAuliffe struck the pose where dad campaigned on Wednesday night.
According to the Daily Wire, a senior Republican adviser in Virginia commented on the incident to the New York Post, which obtained the photo: "Terry McAuliffe's campaign has been a giant 'f*ck you' to parents, so it's no surprise his divisive, hate-filled campaign is being up front about how he really feels."
McAuliffe's campaign has been taking a decidedly "woke" stance, with the Democrat candidate saying that voting rights activist Stacey Abrams should be governor of Georgia, instead of Gov. Brian Kemp. At a campaign event on Sunday, McAuliffe went as far as accusing Kemp of "disenfranchising" over a million Georgia voters during the state's 2018 gubernatorial election.
According to a new poll, McAuliffe is losing ground to his opponent, Glenn Youngkin. The results show Youngkin surging ahead strongly, breaking a previous statistical dead heat and having Youngkin in the lead 56 percent to 42 percent.
