The famously anti-Tory and anti-Brexit comedy show "The Mash Report" has been pulled by the BBC and won't be returning for another season.
The show is considered by some to be comedy gold. Others such as Andrew Neil, who used to work for the BBC as a presenter, have publicly called it "self-satisfied, self-adulatory, unchallenged left-wing propaganda."
According to the Daily Caller, speculation exists as to whether this cancellation is part of the rumored crackdown in the BBC, which is supposedly trying to adopt a more neutral stance and avoid political biases. Tim Davie, upon taking on the role of director of the network in Sept. 2020, said:
"Overall my guiding principle is that we are a universal public service, a BBC for all, that serves and represents every part of this country."
Said a spokesperson for the BBC recently: "We are very proud of The Mash Report but in order to make room for new comedy shows we sometimes have to make difficult decisions and it won’t be returning."
Nish Kumar, who has been the show's host, doesn't believe the BBC's claim, and feels that the show was cancelled for political reasons:
"A lot of people are asking me for a comment and here it is," says the tweet, below an image with a caption that reads "Boris Johnson is a liar and a racist."
A user quickly replied, "Replying to @MrNishKumar" with the same image but a different caption:
In this case, the caption reads "Nish Kumar is unemployed and unemployable."
