"I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far."
After a multi-day spat earlier in the month, entrepreneur Elon Musk said that he "regrets" some of the posts he made targeting President Donald Trump.
Musk wrote early Wednesday morning, "I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far."
Ahead of the feud, Musk had been vocal in his opposition to the "Big Beautiful Bill" touted by Trump that is working its way through Congress. The bill, which extends the 2017 Trump tax cuts as well as installs a number of Trump agenda items, was called a "disgusting abomination" by Musk.
Trump was asked about the comments, to which he said, "Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore." He later added, "He knew the inner workings of the bill better than anybody sitting here... He knew everything about it. He had no problem with it. All of a sudden he had a problem and he only developed the problem when he found out we're going to have to cut the EV mandate."
Musk replied, "False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!"
The two went back and forth over multiple days, with Musk accusing Trump of being on the Epstein list, a post that was later deleted, and saying that the president would not have won the election if it weren’t for him. Musk had also threatened to decommission SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft, but withdrew the threat.
In an interview taped on Monday, ahead of Musk's post, Trump told the New York Post's Miranda Devine, "Look, I have no hard feelings. I was really surprised that that happened. He went after a bill that’s phenomenal. …He just — I think he feels very badly that he said that, actually."
When asked if the two could ever get back on good terms, Trump said, “I guess I could, but we have to straighten out the country. And my sole function now is getting this country back to a level higher than it’s ever been. And I think we can do that.”
