“What if that had been an underage girl?”
A female TikTok user recently shared a distressing experience at her local Planet Fitness, where she claimed a male employee walked in on her while she was topless in the locker room.
The TikToker, who goes by @theunapologetictiff, described how the employee saw her changing without a shirt or bra on and that the two made eye contact. The encounter left her feeling violated and deeply uncomfortable.
“I am not trying to be dramatic, but I did not have a shirt on, I did not have a bra on and I just feel really violated that he saw me,” she expressed in her video posted to TikTok. “I just feel, like, really yucky that a man saw part of my naked body that I did not want to see my naked body.”
The woman went on to explain that it was hard for her to “come down” from the incident. When she went to the front desk to complain what had happened was unacceptable, she was dismissed by the gym staff. She also pointed out that the gym currently has a special promotion that offers free memberships to teenagers for the summer.
“What if that had been an underage girl?” she asked.
In her video caption, the user noted that the male employee’s justification was that there were no single-use bathrooms for men.
This incident has reignited criticism and calls for boycotts against Planet Fitness for its lax policies regarding female locker rooms. Planet Fitness currently has a policy that allows transgender-identifying customers to use the locker room that correlates with their “gender identity” rather than biological sex. This has resulted in numerous instances where women express shock and fear for safety as a biological man is seen using the female locker room.
