The Trudeau government is set to regulate YouTube after the Liberal-led, Commons heritage committee voted to implement federal law, according to Blacklock's Reporter.

This is part of the government's overall mission to regulate and tax American tax giants while protecting Canadians online.

The company, not individual Youtubers, will have to comply with this regulation, although it will certainly affect them. The Trudeau government wants to force Netflix and YouTube to "contribute significantly to the creation and presentation of Canadian programming."

"The programming we upload onto YouTube, that programming we place on that service, would be subject to regulation moving forward," said a senior civil servant in the Heritage department.

Guilbeault will introduce this internet control bill to Parliament within the "next couple of weeks," he revealed during a videoconference.

"My job is to ensure the safety and security of the Canadian population," said the minister.

Guilbeault has previously cited surveys by the Canadian Race Relations Foundation showing that 93 percent of Canadians "believe that online hate speech and racism are a problem" and 80 percent "want social media companies to be required to remove racist or hateful content within 24 hours."
