On Wednesday, Trump held his first outdoor rally since the Butler, Pennsylvania rally in July 13, 2024 that saw an attempt on his life by gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks. Surrounded by bulletproof glass, Trump spoke on his plans for an economic recovery under his second term. At one point, however, when a woman in attendance was in distress, he stepped out from behind the protection and went to see if she was alright.

Trump noted the revised job growth numbers just released by the adminsitration, in which the number of jobs added between April 2023 and March 2024 were revised down by 818,000, saying it was a "massive scandal" and not a revision, but a "total lie." The Biden-Harris administration had been touting job growth, only to discover that it's far less than estimates.

"They wanted it to come out after the election but somehow it got leaked," he said, adding that the "Harris-Biden administration has been caught fraudulently manipulating job statistics to hide the true extent of the economic ruin that they’ve inflicted on America."

Trump said that "we’re on the brink. That’s why this November, Americans are going to tell Kamala Harris that we’ve had enough, we can’t take it anymore, you’re doing a terrible job. Comrade Harris, you're fired, get outta here."

Harris has come under fire for her proposed economic policies, with "Kamunism" trending on social media after it was revealed that her plans would include communist-style price controls on food and other services in the US.

Trump pledged to the audience that "we’re going to do a great job for North Carolina. We’re going to do a great job for the United States of America. We put America first and we’re going to Make America Great Again."

Trump noted that the Biden-Harris administration has "depleted" the strategic oil reserves, saying that these reserves are, "in all due resepct, not for filling up your car so that you have four cents a gallon less and that you vote for crooked Joe. It’s not meant for that." Trump has promised to bring back the energy independence he facilitated during his first term.

He later added that the US under his second term would "bring in business," and he would "use tariffs to take advantage of our great strength and frankly hurt countries that are hurting us and have been hurting us on trade for many many years."

"Right now, China is building massive auto plants in Mexico and they think that those plants are going to make cars and they’re going to sell them across the line for no tax, no anything, destroy what’s left in Detroit," Trump said, adding that his administration would impose a 150 to 200 percent tariff.

"Together we’re going to pay down debt, we’re going to reduce your taxes — I gave you the largest tax cut in history, the largest regulatory cut in history that created all the jobs," he said, adding that when Biden talked about jobs added, "almost all" of the jobs created under the Biden administration have gone to illegal immigrants.
