Trump leads Biden by 4 points in anticipated rematch: CNN poll

Only 25 percent of Americans say Biden has the stamina and sharpness needed to carry out the duties of president.

A new national poll conducted by CNN has found that if Donald Trump and Joe Biden were to have a rematch in 2024, the former president would come out on top over his successor.

Trump holds a 4-point lead over Biden, garnering 49 percent to his 45 percent among registered voters.

According to the poll, there is very little room for either candidate to gain support. 51 percent of those polled said there was no chance at all that they would vote for Biden in 2024 compared to 48 percent who said the same about Trump.

The current president has seen a steady decline in support from groups he once had a stronghold on, including younger voters, political independents, and voters of color. His approval rating has also sunk to levels lower than Trump had at this point in his term, at just 39 percent, with voters pointing out that his biggest weaknesses are things that Trump possesses in spades.

Additionally, only 25 percent of Americans, including just 51 percent of Democrats, say Biden has the stamina and sharpness needed to carry out the duties of president. Trump, on the other hand, is seen as fit enough to serve by 53 percent of voters, and 90 percent of Republicans.

According to the poll, Republicans are more motivated to head to the polls next November, with 71 percent saying they will get out to vote compared to just 61 percent of Democrats.

The poll was conducted via SSRS between Oct. 27 and Nov. 2 among a randomly selected sample of 1,514 adults. There is a sampling error of plus/minus 3.1 percent.

In recent months, Trump has managed to surpass Biden in a number of polls, including those taken in key battleground states. In Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, for example, the former president is ahead of his successor, with voters saying they have more faith in him to get the economy roaring again.
