Trump 'likes' Flock cameras, backs them for law enforcement use

President Donald Trump has thrown his support behind AI Flock cameras, a technology which has become the subject scrutiny in recent months. He said that although there are concerns about privacy, they help a lot to stop criminality.

Trump was asked his thoughts on the cameras which use AI and take photos of cars to track license plates. They are used by cops to track cars that have been stolen or suspects involved in other criminality.

“Flock cameras, you haven’t talked a lot about these Flock cameras. A lot of law enforcement say they really help them, would you be willing to back that?” a reporter asked him.

“I sort of like ’em because of that, because of law enforcement,” Trump said. “But some people don’t. They think it’s an infringement."

A reporter said that the cameras "help catch a lot of criminals."

"But I like them," Trump reiterated.

The remarks reflect the president's backing of the technology that has been under a lot of scrutiny as of late. The president has taken a similar tact with AI data centers in his messaging, saying that those against the technology are going to create disaster for their own communities.

Earlier in August, the president took to Truth Social and said, "The only reason that communities throughout the U.S.A. should not want Data Centers is if they want to end up being backwards and poor. If they want to be successful and rich, with far lower taxes and jobs all over the place, let Data Reign. The good news is that there are plenty of other places that want them. If we kill the Golden Goose, you will only have yourselves to blame. China could not be happier with this anti Data Center movement. Actually, they can’t believe it is happening!"

Both Flock cameras and new data centers have a thread in common: AI. According to survey data from Pew Research, 52 percent of Americans are concerned about AI and 71 percent say that AI is likely to take their jobs.
