With the presidential election too close to call, Trump supporters across the nation are on edge.

At least a hundred and fifty of the President’s supporters have crowded around a voting center in Phoenix, Arizona, protesting what they see as a loss of integrity in the presidential election.

Late Wednesday night, hundreds of people also surrounded the election center in Maricopa County, demanding accountability and transparency.

The New York Times reports that many of the supporters expressed frustration that Arizona had already been called in favour of Biden by some news networks.

“The only way Biden can win Arizona is through fraud,” one of the protestors said. “I won’t accept a Biden victory. I don’t want to live under Communist rule.”

No arrests have been made at the demonstrations in Arizona.

While unrest has largely remained subdued, authorities share concerns that once the result of the election has been decided, there might be sudden escalation. Ken Cuccinelli, a senior official at the Department of Homeland Security, says that the DHS has preparations in place for that possibility—although they hope it won’t be needed.

“We have teams ready to go as needed,” said Cuccinelli, "We don't have any specific intelligence that suggests any particular threat of violence.”
