The shooting caused organizers to cancel the last day of the festival.
According to the Grant County Sheriff, the shooting happened at the campgrounds outside the amphitheater. At approximately 8:25 pm, the department began to receive calls about the incident.
Grant County Sheriff’s Office revealed the shooter was in custody at approximately 9:15 pm, but information regarding the victims' and suspected shooter's identities has not yet been released.
The shooter fired twice, according to law enforcement. First, the suspect walked away from the area, then when the police were closing in, he started firing randomly into the crowd.
According to the sheriff’s office, during the response by law enforcement, an officer-involved shooting incident occurred, and the suspect was injured. The incident will be investigated by the North Central Washington Special Investigations Unit.
The Beyond Wonderland festival continued into Saturday night, releasing a statement alerting attendees to avoid part of the campgrounds. By early Sunday morning, however, the festival was canceled for the second day, and Insomniac Events, the company that operates the event, deferred to the police for comment.
